- Description
- The National Institutes of Health, Office of Acquisitions Station Support Simplified Acquisitions Branch on behalf of the National Eye Institute (NEI) intends to negotiate, on a non-competitive basis, with RainDance Technologies, Inc, 44 Hartwell Avenue, Lexington, MA 02421. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b)(1) and FAR 13.501 (a)(1) to use Simplified Acquisition Procedure for commercial items. The North American Industry Classification System Code for this acquisition is 541711 and the size standard is 500 empl. The National Eye Institute requires a performance study to demonstrate the commercial performance of the RDT 1000 Instrument and Sequence Enrichment Assay. This will allow customer to demonstrate the performance of the Sequence Enrichment Assay. Genomic DNA samples will be processed to amplify each of the amplicons for each sample submitted and delivered to Customer for sequencing. The NEI National Ophthalmic Disease Genotyping Network (eyeGENE) is a nationwide DNA repository that promotes clinical research in eye-related genetic diseases. The NEI DNA Diagnotic Laboratory is a CLIA-certified Clinical Molecular Laboratory in the Opthalmic Genetics & Visual Function Branch, NEI. One of the major functions of the NEI DNA lab is to provide clinical genetic testing for patients with retinal disorders. The NEI DNA lab only has a clinical protocol using Sanger sequencing. It is far behind the increased demanding from eyeGENE program. It strongly demands a high-throughput automated procedure. The microdroplet technology provides a powerful way to support the high-throughput sequencing by enriching thousands of PCR products simultaneously in a single tube. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses submitted to holleyv@od.nih.gov on or before 10:00 AM ET June 27, 2011. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Please reference the announcement number NOI-2150003 on all correspondence submitted by email.
