Description

To provide technical assistance and training to aid the Pine Ridge School in the implementation of the new Common Core Standards with aligned programs and strategies. The following training and technical assistance will be provided:1.Review the present curriculum to determine how it aligns with the Common Core Standards2.Assist the school with selection of a balanced reading/language arts textbooks series, K-12, based on the Common Core Standards and addressing the learning styles of the students at Pine Ridge3.Provide the school with a culture-based curriculum that helps to integrate culture into the curriculum using Indian/Lakota literature and strategies found to be effective with Indian students4.Provide teacher training on the implementation of the culture-based curriculum 5.Provide teacher training on the research specifically on teaching Indian students6.Provide teacher training on research-based language arts/reading strategies7.Provide follow up training, classroom observations of teachers, and technical assistance to ensure implementation of the student-centered curriculum8.Make adjustments to the culture-based curriculum as the need arises.
