- GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Non-Contact 3D Optical Profiler ****Quotes must be valid through the end of September 2011**** 1. Statement of Need: The FDA is requesting a non-contact 3D interferometric optical profiler with capabilities in surfaces evaluation, including micro roughness, wear, fracture, and failure analysis. This will directly support two Critical Path initiatives; the Metal-on-Metal Hip project and Impingment of Artificial Disc Replacement devices as well as future post-market investigations and forensics studies (metal on metal or regular wear). 2. Capabilities: The following capabilities are needed for a new non-contact 3D interferometric optical profiler to support materials surface evaluation such as micro roughness, wear, fracture, and failure analysis (meet or exceed). a. High resolution surface profiling and analysis for a wide variety of applications b. Ability to work in vertical scanning interferometry mode and phase shift interferometry mode c. Minimum of 10mm scan range d. Closed loop scanning throughout entire scan range e. White light LED illumination for all surfaces and separate, non-filtered green light LED illumination for flat surfaces f. Automated XY stage at least 6 inch in dimension g. Stitching/tiling software package h. Operating System based on Windows 7 3. Installation • Components should be installed to meet specifications as written in bid response and must be met after any service visits 4. Training • Engineer to provide 2 days of onsite training 5. Warranty • Shall include 1 year extended warranty or base (one year from date of delivery/installation) for all components and software. 6. Options • Shall include 4 additional years parts and service (after the initial year warranty) for all components and software listed as follows: Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4 7. Deliverables • Contractor shall deliver and install to specifications, set up analytical software and provide warranty and training in instrumentation and analysis. 8. Evaluation Criteria: • Award will be made to the lowest price technically acceptable.
