Description
This is a combined/solicitation/Notice of Intent for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are not being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number for this acquisition is NIAIDNOI11122 and the solicitation is being issued as a Notice of Intent on a sole source basis. This solicitation document and its incorporated provisions are those in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC 2005-53). This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is not a Small Business Set-Aside. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) intends to procure an upgrade to the epMotion 5075 liquid handling system PC-Control. It is a vacuum system as an accessory to the already purchased system, conversion kit vac (LH-VAC) to include software upgrade component 1) Vac Frame 1, 2) Vac frame 2, 3) Vac lid, 4) Vac lid-mats, 5) Vac holder base for frame, 6) Reservoir 400 ML, 7) Collection Plate adapter, 8) Channeling plate, and 9) Epmotion installation. The epMotion 5075 LH liquid handling system permits the preparation and handling of 384 well plates for use in quantitative real time RT-PCR (qPCR) plates. qPCR is a technique that requires high reproducibility and accuracy in dispensing of multiple reagents in micro-quantities per well. Currently entering a phase in the studies of BORIS and its multiple isoforms in multiple human cancers that requires frequent analyses of multiple clinical samples. Robotic handling of reagents by the epMotion system will eliminate the errors associated with human pipetting while enhancing the reproducibility and quality of the analyses and minimizing the use of precious patient material. Importantly, the functionality of the epMotion robot is not limited to q-PCR applications.The total reaction can also be used for: • Serial Dilutions • Tube to plate transfers • Concentration normalization • Reagent Transfer • Pooling • Cell separation • Cytotoxicity assays • Growth curves • Cell-based assays • Apoptosis assays • PCR setup • Sequencing setup • SNP detection • E-Gel Loading The North American Industry Classification System (NIACS) Code for this acquisition is 423490, and the small-business size standard is $6.5 million dollars. This is a firm fixed-price contract and the FOB term is "Destination" and Net 30.
