- Description
- The United States Coast Guard (USCG) intends to contract using other than full and open competition for training on the technical aspects and mechanical requirements of Motor Turbine Unit (MTU) Diesel engines and control systems. The USCG intends to award a contract to MTU Detroit Diesel, Inc., 13400 Outer Drive West, Detroit, MI 48239. The period of performance will be five (5) years under an indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with a potential of up to nine (9) classes each year. This synopsis is for the following MTU Diesel Engine - 396 Series Training: Contractor will be required to conduct courses onsite at USCG's Training Center in Yorktown in order to train USCG technicians on the technical aspects and maintenance requirements of Motor Turbine Unit (MTU) Diesel engines and Control systems. The contractor shall provide all training and materials to properly train Coast Guard personnel on the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the 396 series MTU diesel engine and control system that is used onboard the U.S. Coast Guard 87' WPB's. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all quotes received fourteen days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. The Government will notify parties of the outcome of any proposal submitted in response. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested vendors who may wish to seek subcontracting opportunities should contact the above named company directly. The purchase will be awarded without further notice on approximately September 30, 2011.
