Description
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) intends to procure Comark computers, displays, and mountings for the Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS). This equipment will support the INLS machinery control system and dynamic positioning systems (MCS/ DP). Comark is the only firm with the expertise, experience, and facilities necessary to provide INLS computers and equipment as the software for the MCS/ DP systems were designed around unique Comark traits. These include the custom basic input/ output system firmware set and added internal bridges to connect the Comark to the DP system. The requirement consists of providing new computers, displays, and mountings for INLS. The anticipated period of performance is 15 September 2011 to 15 September 2014. Comark is the original equipment manufacturer of the INLS on-board computer. Under the authority of FAR 6.302, NAVFAC intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability by responding to the requirement or submitting proposals. This synopsis not a request for competitive proposals; however, NAVFAC will consider responses/ proposals received within 14 days of this synopsis. The determination whether or not to compete this requirement is solely within NAVFAC ™s discretion. NAVFAC will only consider information received for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
