- SCOPE - Hydraulic Accumulator Component Repair Item: 4 EACH Accumulator Cylinder, Accumulator Rod, (pc#1 of Encl #2) Triper Identification Number (TIN) 131TR29650 Refer to NAVSEA (1) Dwg. 845-4687549 Rev. E Dwg. 845-4687550 Rev. G 2. Maintenance Standard (MS) 5560-081-167 Rev. G, Chg. 7, pages 6, 7 & 9. The following instructions are for repairing the Accumulator Cylinder (Pc #1) listed above. Repair the bore, which the piston travels of the accumulator cylinder, piece 1, in accordance with encl. (1) (note 16 and 20) and encl. (3). Locking ring grooves are not to be chrome plated and must be protected from damage during handling and plating operations. Strip chrome, grind / hone bore round and true removing the minimum amount to repair. Provide pre-plating dimensions of bore I.D. after preparation for chrome plating, dimensions in way of piston travel at 4 diametrical locations 45 degrees apart at the air end, midway and oil end of this bore. Chrome plate iaw encl. (1) and (3). Drawing clearances and seal compression can be maintained by chrome plating the cylinder bore up to a maximum of.005 on the radius, note 6 of encl (3).Provide final dimensions of bore I.D. after chrome plating, grinding / honing. Dimensions in way of piston travel at 4 diametrical locations 45 degrees apart at the air end, midway and oil end of this bore. Final bore size is to be 13.474 to 13.478 with a surface finish of 8 rhr in accordance with encl. (1). This repair is to bring back bore to original plan size. If defects are discovered and are too severe to accomplish this repair contact the parties listed below. Porosity testing and NDT testing is required iaw encl. (1), note 20 and encl. (3), para 1.c.(8). NOTE: We are not anticipating going oversize with this cylinder on the bore to repair defects and have to manufacture a new piston. If this is not possible contact the parties listed above. The following instructions are for repairing the Accumulator Rod (Pc #1) listed above. The Accumulator Rod will have the defects removed from the 2.746/2.748 diameter the entire length of the Accumulator Rod (Approximately 39 ). This removal will facilitate a final thickness of chrome, which will be.0002 to.005 . The o'ring and retaining ring groove end and the threaded end of Accumulator Rod are not to be chrome plated and must be protected from damage during handling and plating operations. Provide pre-plating dimensions of Accumulator Rod O.D. after preparation for chrome plating, dimensions in 4 diametrical locations 45 degrees apart at the groove end, midway and threaded end of this Accumulator Rod. After chrome is applied the Accumulator Rod will be ground to a diameter of 2.746/2.748 with a surface finish of 8rhr and straightness requirement of the drawing (Ref. 2) and the Maintenance Standard (Ref. 3). Provide final dimensions of Accumulator Rod O.D. after chrome plating, grinding / honing. Dimensions in 4 diametrical locations 45 degrees apart at the groove end, midway and threaded end of this Accumulator Rod. Repairs are for JCN 00024432 0949, 1090, 1221, 1037,
