- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Olympus America Inc, Center Valley, PA 18034, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for components necessary to upgrade existing TIRF Video Microscope manufactured by Olympus. The components consist of the following: 1) OSI-LB10-3 LB10-3;SHUTTER CONTROLLER WITH SERIAL/USB/POWER CABLES - Qty 1 each. 2) OSI-LB10-NWIQ LB10-NWIQ;LB10-3 10 POS 25MM FILTER WHEEL WITH SMART SHUTTER - Qty 1 each. 3) OSI-10-Y71-EC 10-Y71-EC; OLYMPUS IX-71 EXCITATION ADAPTER - Qty 1 each. 4) OSI-10-Y71-EM 10-Y71-EM; OLYMPUS IX-71 EMISSION ADAPTER - Qty 1 each. 5) OMG-561-10MW 85-YCA-010-115;Melles Griot DPSS Laser 561nm 10mW inc PS - Qty 1 each. 6) OMAC-SCREWS1 4 X AB3X35SA and 4 X AB3X8SA TO ATTACH PS JIG - Qty 1 each. 7) OSF-LF488561-2X2 ² LF488/561-2X2M-B-000 ; BrightLine® Sedat laser filter set, 1 optimized for 488 & 561 nm laser sources - Qty 1 each. 8) OSI-LB10-NWE LB10-NWE;LB10-3 10 POS 25MM EMISSION FILTER WHEEL - Qty 1 each. 9) OPS-458-640 011526;458-640 FIBER AND JIG,FC8 CONNECTOR FOR 1 TIRF - Qty 1 each. The TIRF system is unique. Elements critical for the TIRF technique is based around equipment designed and manufactured by Olympus specifically for this microscope. In addition, Olympus American Inc provides essential technical support for maintaining and servicing the equipment as well as probing assistance for developing and optimizing experimental protocols. All these facets are unique to this microscope system and can only be provided by Olympus America Inc. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Olympus America Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 333314/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
