- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with OPEX Corporation, 305 Commerce Drive, Moorestown, NJ 08057. This action is under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1(a)2(ii) "Supplies or services required by the agency available from only one responsible source"" to provide maintenance on government-owned OPEX Omation Model 206 Envelopeners and Model 51 Rapid Extraction Desk mailroom equipment in support of the Social Security Administration's Office of Central Operations, which has several mailroom operations located in different campuses. Each mailroom operation utilizes equipment such as the Omation 206 Envelopeners and/or the Model 51 Rapid Extraction Desk mail equipment to aid in processing its high-volume mailroom workloads. OPEX utilizes proprietary service diagnostic software covered by patents and copyrights, therefore is the sole authorized source for repair and maintenance on the equipment. The concurrence of OPEX to maintain this equipment is considered to be the most practical solution for the government. The period of performance is for 12 months (09/21/2011 - 09/20/2012) with 2 1-year option periods. The place of performance is the Office of Central Operations several mailroom operations located in different campuses at the following addresses: •· 300 N. Greene Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201; •· 1500 Woodlawn Drive, Baltimore, Maryland 21241; and •· 1718 Woodlawn Drive, Baltimore, Maryland 21207 The government anticipates award of a firm fixed price contract. Interested parties that feel they can provide the required service may respond by submitting their capability statement via email to Greg.Shanklin@ssa.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice does not constitute a solicitation for offers. Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, SSA will proceed with sole source negotiations. All questions and submissions in response to this notice must be submitted in writing to the email address listed above by 1:00 PM, ET, August 29, 2011. Telephone calls regarding this matter will not be accepted, nor will they be returned.
