Notice Type: Special Notice NOTICE OF SOLE SOURCE AWARD: The VA Network 22 Contracting Activity (NCA) has awarded a purchase order as a sole source requirement to UC Regents - Radiology Department, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for the below listed requirement. This announcement is published as a sole source pursuant to the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. UCSD is the only source for the MRI MR3T magnetic scanning service using VA customized ultrashort echo time (UTE) sequences. Procurement of the MR3T magnetic scanning from UCSD is in support of the Ultrashort TE MR Imaging of Femorotibial Cartilage project and is within walking distance to the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System. The primary objective of this purchase order is to provide MR3T magnetic scanning services using VA customized UTE sequences. This contract will provide capabilities in support of the Ultrashort TE MR Imaging of Femorotibial Cartilage project which includes over two and a half years of research data and may provide a way of evaluating abnormalities at or near the osteochondral junction. UCSD provides the MR3T magnetic scanning service with the VA customized UTE sequences. The purchase order was awarded on August 29, 2011 with a start date of September 1, 2011 for a period of one month.
