NOAA's Acquisition & Grants Office, Western Acquisition Division-Boulder, in support of the National Weather Service, Radar Operations Center in Norman, OK seeks potential vendors to provide various maintenance and repair activities to the WSR-88D NEXRAD radar radome. There are 158 NEXRAD radar sites located around the world. Most of the NEXRAD sites are located within the continental United States; however, there are sites in Korea, Japan, Azores, Hawaii, and Alaska. Many of the sites are located in remote, difficult to reach areas, while others are in the middle of densely populated areas in full view of the general public. The radomes are constructed by L3 Electronic Space System Corporation (ESSCO), ESSCO Model S38-90. The areas requiring maintenance and repair include the lightning diverter system, aircraft warning lights, cleaning, painting, repairing and replacing radome panels. A qualified vendor would be expected to have the capability to support independent, simultaneous repair activities at a minimum of two NEXRAD locations. Engineering services may also be required in any of the previously mentioned maintenance activities.
