Description
BIGHORN SHEEP SURVEYS USING A FIXED-WING AIRPLANE EQUIPPED WITH FORWARD LOOKING INFRARED TECHNOLOGY.THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE POSTED IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. The Forest Service is soliciting assistance from a Contractor to complete the project as described above. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, transportation, equipment, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to complete the work. The Forest Service shall furnish maps of the survey area and meet with the contractor to ensure the sightability testing and monitoring study design meet the Service's needs. Bighorn sheep surveys on the Payette NF using a fixed-wing airplane equipped with Forward Looking Infared (FLIR) technology. This project will occur in 2 phases: 1) Design and conduct a BHS sightability study on the PNF in the Salmon River and/or Hells Canyon areas. The FS will review and approve the study design and ensure the Nez Perce Tribe (NPT) and/or Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) will monitor for radio-collared sheep and provide the data necessary for the FLIR study to occur by 3/2012. 2) Based on the results of the sightability study, a long-term survey design will be established and initiated by June 1, 2012. Final reports due Sept. 20, 2012 The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies and incidentals to complete the project. The estimated start date is Mid to Late September will have 10 days to complete. NAICS CODE: 541370, $4.5 Million
