- Description
- This contract action was not awarded as a fixed price type because uncertainties involved in contract performance did not permit costs to be estimated with sufficient accuracy to use any type of fixed price contract. As such, a cost-reimbursement type action was awarded (FAR 16.301-2). This project will design four prototype instruments using 2D Raman spectroscopy. Two instruments will be designed for the trace detection of residual explosives at standoff distances up to 40 meters and identification in less than ten (10) seconds. Two additional instruments will be developed for the non-standoff detection of explosive material to yield highly unique spectral information which can potentially provide a "fingerprint" or compositional analysis of the material within five (5) minutes.
