Description
The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA), acting as the operator of the Gemini Observatory, is seeking a vendor to provide a custom high performance test dewar to cool infrared detectors. The dewar will need to be able to meet the following partial list of requirements. The working test surface is required to achieve 20Kelvin with cold radiation shields at 60Kelvin. Though a GM cooler is specified, a sterling cycle cooler will be considered. The working test area of the cold plate will be 600 x 300 mm with a working height of 250mm. The test dewar will constructed using standard high vacuum practices throughout. There will be a minimum of One 50mm entrance window on a 125mm window plate and 8 electrical connector ports available. There will be an independent small "detector stage". This stage will be actively heated to the required test temperature and have a stability of 0.1K peak to peak deviation over one hour. Additionally there will be one filter wheel located near the window assembly that will be baffled between the entrance window and the filter wheel unit. The filter wheel will be manually actuated and have a minimum of 10 positions. Delivery will be less than 20 weeks ARO. A Request for Proposal for this procurement, with the complete requirements, will be released in the near future, so please do not submit a proposal in response to this announcement. Vendors that are interested in receiving this Request for Proposal should email Andrew Flach at aflach@gemini.edu by no later than 2 November 2011. This email should reference RFP No. N311970 in the subject line and give the name, address, email address, and phone number of at least one contact person.
