Description
NASA/JSC is seeking potential Offerors/Contractors to provide simulation andsoftware technology support to the Software, Robotics, and Simulation Division (SRSD) ofNASA, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC). SRSD is responsible for developing andsupporting simulation and Virtual Reality (VR) applications for Extra Vehicular Activity(EVA) training systems, robotics training systems, and engineering analysis; anddeveloping situational awareness and planning software. SRSD is also responsible forproviding engineering in the areas of Vehicle System Management (VSM), automation andintelligent systems, and tele-robotics and autonomous robotic systems for ground andspace flight applications. SRSD supports the International Space Station (ISS), theMulti-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), and other advanced projects and programs. Simulation and software technology support will be required in the following fields:1.Virtual Reality includes research, design, and development of VRstate-of-the-art technologies and software.2.Trick simulation environment includes system administration duties that arerequired to facilitate the Trick development network and computer laboratory.3.Trick simulation math models and applications includes simulation applicationsconsisting of math models, verified simulations, and other supporting software utilities.4.Trick simulation analysis includes trick math models and simulationapplications that may be used for engineering analysis of robotic and spacecraft systems.5.Research and development in advanced robotics and intelligent systems includesadvanced robotics, develop prototypes, and design and develop software.6.Manipulator Analysis, Graphics, and Integrated Kinematics (MAGIK) simulationmaintenance and development includes kinematic analysis for several robotic systemssupporting ISS, MPCV, and other advanced projects and programs. 7.VSM includes assessments of life cycle implementation for the VSM design.8.System engineering and integration includes support for space vehicle systemand subsystem management in systems engineering and integration analyses, and indevelopment of Flight Software reference architectures.9.MPCV engineering analysis test bed including supporting requirements, architecture, design analysis, and evaluation of command & data handling, vehicle systemmanagement, and other avionics integration software functionality.10.Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) simulation analysis includessimulation software development for application to autonomous systems development.11.MPCV simulation and avionics model development including supporting MPCVsimulation and avionics model development, which includes full life cycle support ofspacecraft simulation modeling and facility development, including requirementsdefinition, design, prototyping, implementation, integration, test, verification, anddocumentation.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Chris Gaspard not later than 3:00 PM Central Daylight Time, November8, 2011. Please reference solicitation number 'NNJ13413370L (SSTC)' in any response. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Responses mustinclude the following: 1.Name and address of firm2.Size of business3.Average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees4.Whether the company is a large business, or any category of small business (SB)*5.Affiliate information:parent company, joint venture partners, potential teamingpartners, prime contractor (if potential sub) or subcontractors (if potential prime)6.List of customers covering the past five years (highlight relevant workperformed, contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and pointof contact - address and phone number) 7.Indicate if you would or would not want your business name listed as aninterested party on the upcoming acquisition website (for teaming arrangement andsubcontractor opportunities)*NASA is seeking capabilities from all categories of SB for the purpose of determiningthe appropriate level of competition and/or SB subcontracting goals for thisrequirement.'In addition to submitting capability and qualification statements, interested parties areencouraged to provide their thoughts and ideas regarding whether the resulting contractshould be awarded as a fixed-price or cost-reimbursable contract and what type ofincentives would be appropriate. Industry input will assist in the development of anacquisition plan to best meet the Government's needs. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation.
