- This SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT is a Market Survey for information only. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement or any follow-up information requests. No telephone calls will be accepted requesting a bid package or solicitation. There is no bid package or solicitation, to protect the procurement integrity of any future procurement, if any, that may arise from this announcement. The Naval Facilities Engineering Services Center (NFESC), Port Hueneme, CA is seeking information on mobile cold formed steel (CFS) machines and factories capable of the following: 1.able to produce 2x4 equivalent products to replace standard wood studs 2.able to produce 2x6 equivalent products to replace standard wood 2x6 members 3.able to produce typical shapes used in general construction framing and/or cladding 4.able to be relocated and setup in austere environments quickly with limited resources 5.able to be configured into a single or multiple standard 8x8x20 ™ ISO shipping containers Interested parties shall indicate whether they have available equipment that can target the five functions listed above. Ideally, it is desired that all five function be performed by a single unit, but consideration may be given to systems capable of creating only one specific dimension product or shape. The principal recipients of this equipment are military activities of the Navy. In order to assist the activity manager in evaluating the cost/benefit of the candidate units, the following information is desirable: specifications of the equipment, performance data, equipment configurations, estimated capital cost, estimated operation and maintenance costs, and return-on-investment calculation depending upon the best financial options. Interested sources must submit any information relating to this announcement in writing via e-mail to lynn.torres@navy.mil (contractual) and claude.thomas@navy.mil (technical). The deadline for receiving responses is 1 December 2011. Responses received after this deadline may not be considered. Since this is a sources sought announcement, no evaluation letters will be issued to the participants.
