Description
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing an upgrade to an existing Chameleon System Ultra II 80MHZ(ROHS)Part Number 1117782, Materials Luminescence Laser system used to support operations in Surface and Microanalysis sciences Division. It will be employed to investigate a wide range of linear and non-linear spectroscopic measurements of particles and nanoparticles, including organic and inorganic and hybrid structures. Variable wavelength, automatic tuning elements/modes will be required. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed for an upgrade to an existing Chameleon System Ultra II Part Number 1117782, Materials Luminescence Laser System that can meet NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. These are salient characterstics of coherent systems that were identified to be compatible with existing Chameleon System. However, if you are able to provide compatible components, please provide information as requested below. Chameleon Compact Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO): Coherent Laser Group part number 1181974: • Shall include modifications to the existing Chameleon Ultra II to facilitate operation with the Chameleon Compact Optical Parametric Oscillator. • Shall include automated wavelength extension for a Chameleon Ti:Sapphire laser to provide gap free wavelength extension up to 1600 nm. • Shall provide independent tuning of the Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO)signal between 1000 and 1600 nm without optics changes. • Shall provide completely alignment free, fully automated and computer controlled operation. • Shall provide the ability for laser pump wavelength variation between 740 nm and 880 nm with simultaneous independent tuning of the OPO in the IR. Monolithic Block Resonator (MBR) Single Frequency, Ring Ti:Sapphire laser : Coherent Laser Group part number 1106747: • Shall provide tuning with six watt pump from 700 - 940nm. • Shall include an thin etalon for single-frequency operation. • Shall provide up to 1.25W output power. • Shall provide high passive stability. • Shall provide single longitudinal mode operation. • Shall include electronic control of single-frequency operation. • Shall provide high efficiency, intracavity, resonant frequency doubling of the ring laser output. • Shall provide mode matching elements. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 334516, as those domestic sources having 500 employees or less. Please include your company's size classification in any response to this notice. Companies that distribute coherent systems or compatible the above system are requested to email a technical capability/product literature describing their abilities to douglas.joyner@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The submission should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the system components for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the system components, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to douglas.joyner@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
