Description
The U. S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will be seeking an executive search firm to identify advertising sources and refer highly qualified candidates for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Superintendent, U. S. Merchant Marine Academy. Services needed include: identifying sources and suggested language for the advertisements, readership, and advertising timetables; using a variety of advertising methods to reach highly qualified, diverse candidates; developing and presenting recruitment strategies; using a variety of search methods to identify highly qualified, diverse candidates; conducting basic qualifications reviews of identified candidates and directing qualified candidates to the official application process. The Superintendent of the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy leads the Academy and the Academy's approximately 1350 midshipmen, faculty and staff. The Academy is a Federal institution of higher learning, comparable to a small college campus, and the position is comparable to a college president. The Superintendent is responsible for the development of top quality scholastic standards which encourage and promote the intellectual and professional growth and physical well-being of midshipmen, and effective and economical operation of the Academy's facilities. The facilities encompass 85 acres and comprise approximately 48 major and secondary buildings at Kings Point, NY. The incumbent has a profound impact on the Academy's ability to educate and train the country's finest young men and women to be highly qualified licensed merchant marine officers inspired to sail on vessels of the United States. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued on or around 17 November 2011 at www.fbo.gov. It is anticipated that this requirement will be a full and open solicitation.
