- Description
- NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) is hereby soliciting information for potentialsources for science operations, payload and software support for the Ultra Violet LightEmitting Diode (UV-LED) experiment. The UV-LED payload will demonstrate a chargemanagement concept using new deep UV-LEDs to control the charge of an electricallyisolated test mass without requiring physical contact. This development will provide aplatform that will control charge of a free-flying mass that is central to drag-freesystems which are intended to be affected only by gravitational forces and unaffected byatmospheric drag and solar pressure. Companies interested in this opportunity will needto be able to demonstrate access to this technology and the ability to support NASA ARCin the science operations and payload development support of the UV-LED payload.ARC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including Small, SmallDisadvantaged (SDB), 8(a), Woman-owned (WOSB), Veteran Owned (VOSB), Service DisabledVeteran Owned (SD-VOSB), Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) businesses, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI) forthe purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small businesssubcontracting goals for UV-LED payload support and development of science operations, payload support (interface documents and controls to integrate the payload tospacecraft). The Government reserves the right to consider a Small, 8(a), Woman-owned(WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran (SD-VOSB), or HUBZone business set-aside based onresponses hereto. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If asolicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA AcquisitionInternet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these sitesfor the release of any solicitation or synopsis.Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet theabove requirement should submit a capability statement of 10 pages or less indicating theability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-typeproduct. A commercial item is defined in FAR 2.101.This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as acommitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemedfully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. All responses shall be submitted to Christine.M.Benavides@nasa.gov no later than December8, 2011. Please reference NNA11416984L in any response.
