Description
The Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), ASC/WISK is synopsizing information for the purpose of procuring an asset used by Battlefield Airmen. The asset is designated as a Line of Sight - Short (LOS-S) device, providing a lightweight integrated designator/sensor to enhance targeting effectiveness at ranges less than or equal to three kilometers. The LOS-S project is a part of the overall Battlefield Airmen Operations (BAO) Kit program, which is in support of Air Force Special Operations Command. The LOS-S is intended to be a lightweight integrated designator/ranger/marker sensor. This device will serve as a three-in-one asset for dismounted operators to enhance targeting effectiveness at ranges up to three kilometers. This capability will be employed across the spectrum of operations for a combat controller (air traffic control, air to ground terminal control, voice and data communications, range finding, mensurating target locations, etc.). The LOS-S shall be employed globally in dismounted configurations accomodating the variety of combat control load configurations. The LOS-S shall be rugged and satisfy existing material reliability and availability requirements. The system must further be interoperable with the MR-1 small wearable computer. The LOS-S shall additionally be small and lightweight enough to accomodate operator maneuvers and transportation. Specific objectives of this effort will be to engineer, manufacture, develop and ultimately produce assets capable of meeting the minimum system requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Competitive proposals are expected to be solicited for during the first quarter of calendar year 2012
