- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for eight (8) vacuum-compatible rotation stages for usein the Cloud-Aerosol Transport System (CATS) transmitter optical path. The stages will beused in optical alignment during vacuum chamber testing.Minimum requirements include:rotation stage, 80 cm clear aperture;360-degree rotation;minimum angular resolution: 0.001 degree;vacuum compatible to 10-6 Torr;only Loctite 242 and 7649 primer to be used for assembly.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Newport Corporation pursuant to FAR 13.106,for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available fromonly one source. The Newport rotational stages are the only commercial units that meetthe requirement for both precision adjustment and guarantee operation in a vacuumenvironmental down to 10-6 Torr. The Newport stages meet the requirement of minimumangular resolution of 0.001 degree. The rotation stages must be compatible with existinghardware and the vendor also must be able to meet the nominal 3-month lead time. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon January 19, 2012.
