Description
SOURCES SOUGHT: for Firm Fixed Price Type Contract to provide a unit rehab of the Fort Peck Unit 2 hydroelectric generator located in the Powerhouse at the Fort Peck Hydropower Plant. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Omaha District is conducting market research for the rehab of the Unit 2 hydroelectric generator. The work shall include engineering and design to optimize power, performance and efficiency of the turbine generator. The existing unit, rated 19211kVA @ 0.95 p.f., was placed into initial operation in 1943 and is currently in daily operation. The existing turbine is a vertical axis Francis runner rated 20,000hp at a rated head of 140 feet operating at a speed of 163.6 rpm. The new turbine will be optimized to specified peak performance at approximately 190 ft of head. The contractor shall furnish and install a new Francis turbine runner, a generator restack and rewind, and refurbishment of the wicket gates, linkages, operating ring, servo, headcover, stayring, thrustbearing, etc. Turbine model and generator efficiency testing will be required on completion of the rehabilitation. This work will require coordination with the Corps of Engineers staff at the Fort Peck Power Plant and Corps of Engineers Construction Division for all activities related to construction. Estimated construction time is 560 days. The contractor will also have tight scheduling coordination to construct during planned seasonal outages. This market research is being conducted under North American Industrial Classification Systems (NAICS) code 237990. Submittal Requirements: Interested firms with the ability to perform these services are hereby invited to submit a response to the market survey to provide the requested services to the mailing address listed below no later than close of business (5:00 PM central time) on January 23, 2012. This is NOT a request for proposal. The intent of this notice is to provide information to the marketplace and is an invitation for services described above. The Government will not pay for the provision of any information, nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of such information.
