- This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (service disabled veteran owned small business, veteran owned small business, hub zone, 8(a), small disadvantage business, woman-owned, small business, or large business) relative to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 812331 and the Small Business Size Standard is $30 million. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information that is submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis request. The Government will in no way be obligated to purchase all or part of the items described above, and is providing this information as "general" information only. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued. Once the Government determines the type of contractor eligibility that will be solicited for this requirement a solicitation will be issued for qualified Offerors to submit a complete proposal for evaluation. The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a sources sought to inquire as to available sources for Linen Rental and Laundry Services for the VA Health Care System of Ohio facilities located at Cleveland, Dayton, Chillicothe and Cincinnati. If a solicitation is issued it is anticipated to be for a base year with four one-year option periods. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, management, supplies, facilities, including transportation of linen to contractor owned/contractor operated bulk laundry facility to accomplish the required linen cleaning service and tasks noted herein for the VA Healthcare System of Ohio Medical Centers. The services include pick-up soiled/contaminated linen and deliver clean linen and including but not limited to: wash/dry, presswork, and folding of Laundry Bags, Blankets, Physician Coats, Cubicle Curtains, Patient Gowns, Mop Heads, Bed Pads, Table Cloths, Bed Sheets, Pillowcases, Bibs, Towels, Scrub Suits/Jackets, Uniforms, etc. Contractor must be able to maintain a system of records as to work performed sufficient to answer all reasonable issues with regard to the linen supply and work performed. All workmanship shall be in accordance with practices established by the National Association of Institutional Linen Management (NAILM), International Fabricare Institute (IFI), Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) and accepted industry guidelines. All work shall be performed under sanitary conditions as specified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Physical separation, through the presence of a barrier wall and the use of pass-through equipment is required. In no case shall clean and soiled linen share the same physical space. The Contractor must have experience in providing hospital laundry cleaning services. All firms interested in this requirement should notify the Contracting Officer via email to Thomas.moore9@va.gov prior to 2/10/2012. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses should provide company name, address, point of contact, telephone and fax number, business size and status (Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), etc.), and must include a capability statement that addresses the organizations qualifications and ability to perform as a prime contractor for the work described. Respondents should include which locations that can be serviced is they are not capable of providing service to all locations. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted. This notice is to assist the VA in determining sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. If a solicitation is issued it will be announced at a later date, and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. Responses to this sources sought is not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
