- Description
- The purpose of this announcement is to provide an update on the Department of Homeland Security, Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Human Portable Tripwire (HPT) program. On October 27, 2011, DNDO hosted an Industry Day to present the draft Operational Requirements and Concept of Operations for a HPT device. Following the Industry Day, one-on-one meetings were held with interested vendors to review the capabilities of currently available commercial products and proposed prototype devices and to receive industry feedback on the HPT draft Operational Requirements. On February 3, 2012, DNDO hosted a conference call with the vendors that participated in the one-on-one meetings, to announce that DNDO had approved the HPT Program Office proceeding with the next phase of the program. This phase will include updating the HPT Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and Operational Requirements Document (ORD) in coordination with CBP, USCG, TSA and State/Local Organizations. DNDO's AoA effort will focus on refining the 10 operational scenarios in the current AoA, to better define where HPT systems can potentially improve rad/nuc detection, identification and adjudication. The AoA will also incorporate industry feedback on the draft HPT requirements, provided by the vendors at the above referenced one-on-one meetings. The information presented in the February 3, 2012 conference call is available to interested parties upon request. Additionally, the HPT Program will conduct another program update to industry via conference call at the end of April. If you would like to receive a copy of the information previously presented and/or desire to be notified for the next HPT Program update for industry, contact Mandy Wylie at mandy.wylie@dhs.gov. Emails ONLY, please.
