- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District is seeking small business sources for a construction project entitled Sweetwater Levee Repair, Idaho. This project will repair damage to the Sweetwater Levee located on Lapwai Creek, a small tributary of the Clearwater River. The site is on the left bank of the Creek, near creek mile 6, close to the town of Sweetwater, in Northern Idaho. The period of performance for this work is April to September 2012. This levee has damages which include a loss of levee core material due to sustained high flows in Lapwai Creek. This loss of material resulted in seepage through the levee and some piping. The section of levee to be repaired in this project is 200 feet in length. The contractor selected to perform this work will be required to excavate soils to a depth of approximately eight feet. The contractor will install a geotextile fabric and impervious soils in the excavated trench to restore the integrity of the levee by preventing water from washing fine material out of the levee core. Once all soils are placed and compacted, the contractor will grade the levee surface to a degree sufficient for levee operation and maintenance. Additionally, a small area of approximately 20 square feet in area will require the riprap protective stone to be removed and rekeyed to eliminate a location where water is channeled into the levee. This work will involve the use of tracked excavators equipped with a thumb to properly place and key the stone. The resulting contract will be fixed price purchase order. Construction magnitude is estimated to be between between $25,000 and $100,000. Payment bond or irrevocable letter of credit in the amount of 100% of the contract price will be required if the contract price exceeds $30,000. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this project is 237990 and the associated small business size standard is $33,500,000.00 or less in average annual receipts. T his sources-sought announcement is being issued to identify interested small business concerns with the capability to accomplish the work. This is not a solicitation. Responses to this announcement will be considered in the Government's decision regarding whether to set aside this requirement for small business concerns. Please provide the following: 1) A capability statement expressing interest in this requirement, describing your company and its capability to complete a project of this magnitude and complexity. Include a statement detailing any special qualifications and certifications, applicable to the scope of this project, held by your firm and/or in-house personnel. 2) A statement or list of your firm's current or past experience (what your firm did) and past performance (how well your firm did it) on projects similar to or the same as the summary scope of work and construction magnitude for this requirement. The contractor will be required to follow the procedures in the Army Corps of Engineers Safety Manual, which can be found online at http://www.usace.army.mil/CESO/Pages/EM385-1-1,2008NEW!.aspx located at US Army Corps of Engineers homepage.
