- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 01 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR HELIUMLEAK DETECTOR.Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued.The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions below:Q1: In the Statement of Work (SOW), it states Helium Mass 4 or Mass 5, however, thetypical gasses used are H2, He3 and He4 with masses, respectively, of 2, 3, and 4.A1: This is an error. It should read Mass 3 and Mass 4. See the attached updatedStatement of Work at:http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/NNJ12425460Q/SOW-R.docChanges are in bold.Q2: In the SOW, it states 'Gross leak detection up to 100 Torr', is this for qualitativeor quantities use? Please describe the situations where this feature is required.A2: Gross leak detection up to 100 Torr is for qualitative use. When a suspect 'grossleaker' is undergoing testing, it's important to get it into test mode at the highestpressure possible so that the helium within the leak is still detectable.Q3: In the SOW, it states 'Direct drive roughing pump and fore line pump', does this meanoil free or rotary vane roughing pump? What is the required pumping capacity for theroughing pump?A3: The pumps shall be dual stage rotary vane. Also, the pumping capacity of the roughingpump shall be 16 cfm minimum.Q4: Please define the requirement for 'Work surface area' stated in the SOW.A4: The work surface area being used is approximately 4 square feet. A work surface isneeded to support miscellaneous tooling and fixturing used during test operations. Also,the surface is needed for easy access to data sheets and support paperwork. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on February 27, 2012. Documents related to thisprocurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web(WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
