Description
This project will consist of deconstruction/recycling of scrap metal of five large buildings and three large antenna arrays at Clear AFS, Alaska at no cost to the U.S. Government. All buildings were built in the 1960s. Total square footage of the five buildings is approximately 303,046 square feet. The U.S. Air Force Peterson AFB Qualified Recycling Program will issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) on or about 21 May 2012. A Contractor site visit is scheduled for 5 and 6 April 2012 at Clear AFS, Alaska. A bid guarantee will be required for this project and shall be 30 percent of the bid price. Deconstruction and recycling of the scrap metal will consist of certified hazardous material abatment, e.g., asbestos in all five buildings, removal of all electrical cable and wire, HVAC piping, utilities piping, metal grates, large aluminum tubing, steel beams, concrete, and miscellaneous steel, copper, and mixed metal support equipment. Structures, concrete footings and pads are to be removed in their entirety and the disturbed areas are to be graded and seeded to provide positive drainage and vegetative cover. The deconstruction will be conducted in phases over an anticipated three year period due to weather and transportation constraints. United States residents will supply Name, Date of Birth/Place of Birth, Nationality, and Security Clearance to donald.chase@us.af.mil. All foreign nationals will be required to contact their Embassy and submit a request to visit Clear AFS, Alaska. Information required: Name, Date of Birth/Place of Birth, Nationality, Identification Number, Reason for Visit, and dates of visit. Requests will be submitted to david.dunklee@us.af.mil. Processing will take two weeks. All contractors will be required to arrange their own transportation to and from Clear AFS, Alaska and accommodations in Healy/Anderson/Fairbanks, Alaska. The U.S. Government will not reimburse any costs incurred by a contractor getting to or from Clear AFS, Alaska. Transportation will be provided on site. Contractors will be required to bring hard hats, steel toe shoes, head lamps, and hand carry flashlights. Buildings have limited lighting and personal lighting will be needed.
