Description
NOTE: There is currently no available funding for this project. Award will not be made until funding becomes available. The solicitationn or this project will be posted on or about April 2, 2012 Description of work: The Carol Creek Culvert Replacement project consists of removing an existing arch pipe culvert and replacing it with a 20'4" span low profile aluminum bottomless box culvert founded on concrete footings. The project shall consist of removal of existing pipe, placing or casting footings, rehabilitation of approximately 125' of streambed, and creating a designed overflow in the road near the culvert. An onsite material source is identified in the plans and may be used, but its use is not required. The in-water work window is July 15 to August 15. The project is located in Wallowa County, OR approximately 12.5 miles southeast of Joseph, OR (T3S, R48E, SW ¼ of Section 19). There are two separate routes which may be used to access the project site (see plans sheet 2 of 8 for a vicinity map). Portions of both routes are narrow and steep. The shortest (distance) route is following US 350 (Omaha Hwy) east out of Joseph to county road 674 (Rail Canyon Road) to county 850 (Armin Rd) to 3940. This route crosses two county bridges, contains one low radius switchback, and has multiple stretches that are very steep. The longest (distance) route is following US 350 east from Joseph to county 4602 (Wallowa Mountain Rd which becomes FSR 39) to FSR 3930 (Hurl Butte Rd) to FSR 3940. This route contains long stretches of maintained forest road, but after turning on FSR 3940 becomes steep with one low radius switchback. Since large trucks shall be needed to access the site, contractors shall investigate each route before submitting a proposal. This project is estimated to be between $100,000 and $250,000.
