Description
NOTE: There is currently no available funding for this project. Award will not be made until funding becomes available. The estimated date the solicitation will be posted is on or about April 2, 2012 Description of Work: The Chicken Creek Culvert Replacement project is an aquatic restoration that restores vital fish habitat and connectivity in the Grande Ronde River Basin. The existing culvert is a squashed approximately 5' diameter by 60' long pipe. It is on a 28 degree skew to Forest Road 51. Forest road 51 is a two lane paved surface road and shall not be closed during the project. Therefore, a by-pass road shall be required. A suggested by-pass configuration will be included in the plans. Alternate by-pass configurations presented by the contractor after award shall be considered. The new structure shall be a 17 foot pre-cast concrete 3-sided box culvert with wing walls, curb and guardrail. The new structure shall be skewed at 28 degrees to the road. The project shall include a stream by-pass during construction, 160 feet of stream reconstruction and simulation, re-contouring of existing fill slopes, installation of guardrail and 115 tons of paving. The project also includes removing an existing cattle guard and installing a new cattle guard in a different location. The project is located (T6S, R35½ E, NE ¼ of Section 10) on Forest Road 51 in Grant County, OR approximately 17 miles south of Starkey, OR. The project is easily accessed from Ukiah using State Route 244 and Forest Road 51 and La Grande using I-84 and Forest Road 51. All of the listed routes are paved and other paved routes exist. Reference vicinity map in plans for details. The project sits at 4300 ft. in elevation and shall not be accessible by vehicle until May. This project is estimated to be between $250,000 to $500,000.
