- PROGRAM OFFICERS The U.S. Department of the Treasury is seeking administrative and program support staff to serve as Program Officers for its Washington, DC-based technical assistance program. The persons selected will be hired under personal services contracts. The Office of Technical Assistance provides overseas advisors to over 40 countries in five functional areas: Economic crimes, government debt issuance and management, budget and financial accountability, banking and financial services, and revenue policy and revenue administration. Program Officers provide administrative support and logistical assistance for overseas resident and intermittent advisors in one of the five functional areas. Duties include: coordinating travel and other logistical needs of advisors; communicating with advisors in the field on a regular basis; formulating and drafting project proposals and budgets, monitoring project activities and expenditures, maintaining the historical record of all program activities in assigned countries and regions; preparing briefings and reports on areas of responsibility for internal and external distribution; and planning conferences and meetings. The ideal candidate will have a degree in international affairs, public administration, or other relevant subject matter; two to five years of work experience, preferably in project coordination or management in connection with U.S. Government foreign assistance or NGO foreign operations; excellent written and oral communication skills as well as facility with word processing and spread sheets. Budget or accounting experience and foreign language capability are desirable. US citizenship is required. SALARY: In accordance with program regulations a nd based on demonstrated salary history, salaries range from $51,630 to $97,333. Successful applicants will be subject to a background security investigation at the appropriate level and will need to have a medical clearance.
