- Description
- The United States Coast Guard, Civil Engineering Unit Juneau, Alaska is conducting a market survey to determine if potential small business sources are available and capable for the Taxiway A Repaving at U. S. Coast Guard Base Support Unit, Kodiak, Kodiak Island, Alaska. Taxiway A was built in the 1940's and was last resurfaced in 1989. It is 80 feet wide and consists of approximately 7' of concrete with an existing overlay of 2 to 10 inches of asphalt. The asphalt surface has been evaluated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and determined to be in poor condition. Some portions of the concrete underlayment are in poor condition. Taxiway striping will also be part of the project to meet FAA requirements. Striping will also be required on both sides of two adjacent roads and for walkways that cross the taxiway at both roadways. Testing in the specifications will be required to be performed by the contractor and a quality control/quality assurance plan will also be part of the project requirements. Elevation transitions for the Apron and Runway will be required for comfortable travel of both C-130 aircraft and for HH-60 and MH-65 helicopters at typical taxiway speeds. All work is required in support of the USCG Base Support Unit (BSU) Kodiak Island, Alaska. The total estimated value of the acquisition would be between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
