- IFB 208576 Battelle's Pacific Northwest Division manages, operates, and maintains the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science (SC) in Richland, Washington. The PNNL is a multi-program laboratory providing world-class scientific research capabilities and advanced scientific knowledge to support DOE's and the nation's strategic goals in science, national security, energy, and the environment. To meet the laboratory's needs and mission objectives, PNNL is establishing an Environmental Molecular Science Laboratory (EMSL) User Radiochemistry Capability within the 3410 Material Sciences and Technology (MS&T) Building. B. To develop the EMSL user radiochemistry capability at the 3410 MS&T building it will be necessary to modify and renovate; Base Scope: • Laboratory spaces 1501, 1604, 1606, as well as Radiological Buffer Area (RBA) corridor 1280C, corridor 1280D, RBA corridor 1280E, corridor 1280F, and service corridor 1290 with architectural, laboratory, mechanical, electrical, and underground piping modifications to accommodate the above identified capabilities. • In addition, modification of existing mechanical and electrical spaces located on the second floor of the MS&T facility shall be required. Specifically, these modifications shall entail; demolition of existing HVAC duct, installation of new filtered exhaust (HVEF) duct work, and associated accessories and control components, including installation of a new Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system, and installation of new electrical power, and control (FMCS) wiring. These modifications shall be required in, but not limited to, existing spaces; 2230B, 2280B, 2280D, interstitial space 2400B, mechanical AHU room 2500, 2502, 2505, and interstitial space 2600A. • Modifications on the roof of the 3410 MS&T facility will be required to accommodate extension of the existing filtered exhaust common plenum (dog house), installation of a new filtered exhaust fan (3410-HVEF-F-003), isolation base, heat recovery air-handling unit (3410-HVEF-AHU-003) and associated heat recovery piping system, sound attenuating device (SAD), and associated exhaust damper and ductwork system and components including control system to tie-into the existing filtered exhaust stack system. Additive Alternate Number 01: • Work included in additive Alternate Number 01 scope is delineated (clouded) on the contract drawings and generally consists of: modification to existing laboratory 1502 to include demolition, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing modifications to facilitate PNNL relocation of the X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) to Lab 1502. Additive Alternate Number 02: • Work included in additive Alternate Number 02 scope is identified on the contract drawings as the "Demountable Wall System and Door" generally depicted between column grid lines L8 and N8 as shown on drawing 3410-A-111(H-3-316825), sht. 1, and as shown in detail No. 1 on drawing 3410-A-901 (H-3-316831), sht. 1.
