MARKET SURVEY - SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS: The Government is issuing this sources-sought announcement as part of a market survey. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division located at the Naval Support Activity, Crane, IN is interested in the availability of a non-developmental, small, stabilized weapons system that will be used on small maritime craft under 40 feet in length. General characteristics include: 1.Capable of supporting the firing of a MK49 MOD0 7.62mm Machine Gun (minigun) and/or a M240B 7.62mm Machine Gun. 2.The entire system should weigh no more than 200 pounds without ammunition and weapon and shall be capable of being mounted anywhere where a MK16 MOD8 Stand Assembly is used, such as on a standard Navy Tripod. The system shall be capable of supporting readily available ammunition of 200 rounds for the M240B and at least 1,000 rounds for the MK49 minigun. When used with the M240B, the system shall also provide capability to remotely charge that weapon. 3.The system shall employee stabilization and auto-tracking to aid in controlling weapons firing from a moving maritime craft. 4.The system shall be capable of moving at a rate to effectively engage high speed threats moving in an opposite direction at ranges of 100 yards. 5. The system shall provide the capability to find, track, and engage a threat in both day and night time conditions. 6.The system should provide for its own power for normal operation, however, craft power may be available as well as power for battery charging may be available. 7.When the system is non-operational, the system will be able to function in a local, crew-served mode to allow for the manual operation of the weapon. 8.The system shall be capable of meeting U.S. Navy environmental criteria including MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461/464 as the system will be used in a high acceleration load environment, be susceptible to wave slap loading, be susceptible to electro-magnetic radiation, and effects due to temperature, humidity, and salt water. The system is not expected to meet MIL-STD-901 Shock Load testing. 9.The system shall provide for a remote cut off switch whereby a non-operator can stop the system from functioning. Vendors submitting responses are also asked to prove technical readiness level. In doing so vendors are encouraged to include past testing reports, examples of other naval installations, developmental history, and any environmental testing completed to date for the Government ™s consideration by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on 08 JUN 2012. Vendors should also provide non-binding cost estimates of their proposed systems in quantities of 1 and 10, not to exceed 100 systems.
