- This is a letter of intent. The National Park Service intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with the Museum of the Cherokee Indian Inc. The proposed place of performance is the Fort Necessity National Battlefield, One Washington Parkway, Farmington, PA The proposed purchase order is for the period of July 7 & 8, 2012. The NAICS Code is 712110. The following is a description of the specific services to be provided. A Cherokee Culutural Heritage Festival, July 7 and 8, 2012, is being conducted by staff and tribal members from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, which is part of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee. The National Park Service intends to consult with and work in cooperation with federally recognized American Indian Nations when developing and presenting interpretive programs, exhibits, events and activities based on the Nation's history and cultural heritage. Fort Necessity National Battlefield intends to work in partnership with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee and Museum of the Cherokee Indian to tell the story of the Cherokee role in the French and Indian War. The Cherokee were one of the larger American Indian Nations who fought in and were affected by the French and Indian War. Near the close of the war in 1762 the Cherokee sent three of their leaders to London, England to represent them in a meeting with King George III to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the War. Fort Necessity's 2008 Long Range Interpretive Plan states that the park will work in partnership with federally recognized American Indian Nations to present their cultural heritage as it relates to the park themes. Presentations will include: "Warriors of AniKituwha (8 men), two dance performances presented each day "One rivercane basketmaker "One woodcarver "One blowguns and darts demonstrator "Fingerweaving demonstration "Living history presentation "Additional living history by warriors when not dancing; moccasin making, quill work, weapons " SCHEDULE FRIDAY EVENING:Timberlake and Ostenaco at reception SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:Demonstrations 10 am--5 pm: basketmaking, carving, weaving, quill work, moccasin making, weapons, blowguns, etc. Warriors of AniKituhwa dance at 11 am and 2 pm.
