Description
The Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS) intends to award a sole source contract in the amount of approximately $200K to build seven (7) C15 engine/transmission trainers, identical to those already supplied under a previous contract to Camp Johnson, aboard USMC Base Camp LeJeune. Because the Government has already fielded substantial numbers of identical C15 engine/transmission trainers and only requires seven (7) additional units, any system provided at this point in time must be the same as those already fielded in form fit and function with fully interchangeable sub-assemblies to reduce the burden of configuration management on the Government, allow for interchangeability of sub-components to maximum extent possible, and to ensure cohesive training. The C15 engine/transmission trainer is a critical component in the teaching of maintenance and troubleshooting skills necessary to maintain engine and transmission systems on heavy duty military vehicles. It is the intent of the Government to have the requisite engines and transmissions supplied to the vendor as Government furnished equipment (GFE) for installation/modification into an acceptable training system. These trainers will then be supplied to the school house at Camp Johnson in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract. In order to train Marines on new devices, a training system has been developed to replicate the engine and transmission loads being placed on the components outside the vehicle frame. This device allows the full troubleshooting of diagnostic codes via the Vehicle Automotive Diagnostic System (VADS) by sending the codes to the computer to allow the full evaluation of the faults. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, and test equipment necessary to facilitate the integration of the GFE equipment into a complete training solution. All questions, concerns, and information concerning this synopsis should be addressed to Ms. Sandi Brubaker at sandi.brubaker@usmc.mil or mailed to Ms. Sandi Brubaker at the contracting office listed below.
