This proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact Michele Devine, Contract Specialist, e-mail: michele.g.devine.ctr@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). The Alter G is the only anti-gravity treadmill that uses an advanced pressure regulation system. AlterG owns all rights and patents to anti-gravity treadmills. The technology was developed at NASA and further developed by Alter G for medical rehabilitation. Users can choose to reduce their effective body weight by as much as 80% (in as small as 1% increments). AlterG offers the only treadmill that uses differential air pressure to incrementally and progressively permit patients with lower extremity injuries to exercise in a stress free anti-gravity environment. The AlterG anti-gravity treadmill supports full range motion for upper and lower body, keeps patients in place, maintains lateral support preventing falls associated with rehabilitation. AlterG anti-gravity rehabilitative exercise treadmill equipment considerably lowers the stress on healing leg muscles, tendons, and hips typically seen with normal treadmills.
