- DARPA-SN-12-42 Phoenix Demonstration Candidate RFI DARPA is interested in obtaining information for planning purposes through this RFI from companies and entities interested in participating in the Phoenix mission described in DARPA-BAA-12-021 as the provider of a candidate satellite for a technology demonstration to take place in the Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO). DARPA seeks information on a commercial satellite that is close to or in the process of 'retiring' within the GEO belt. The satellite would serve as a controlled and willing partner for an initial demonstration of the Phoenix concept to include checkout of space-to-space operations and repurposing techniques for the Phoenix concept. These techniques may prove out or lead to other commercial spacecraft servicing capabilities.
