Description
SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS. This request is an announcement for information/market research for planning purposes. The synopsis does not constitute a request for proposal, request for quote, invitation for bid nor does its issuance in any way restrict the Government as to its ultimate acquisition approach. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center/PKOA is seeking expressions of interest having the capability to provide turbomolecular pumps and rough pumps. The necessary requirements for the turbomolecular pumps are as follows: - 2 pumps each with 2000 L/s pumping speed for a total pump speed of ~4000 L/s. This allows the large 2000+ liter vacuum chamber to be pumped from 10^(-3) Torr to 10^(-6) Torr in a reasonable amount of time (less than 30 minutes). - Operation in axial magnetic field greater than 80 Gauss and transverse magnetic field greater than 40 Gauss for compatibility with proposed magnetic field. - 12" OD CF type inlet fittings to allow for maximum pumping conductance as well as chamber compatibility - Mountable in any position so that the pump can be axially aligned with the proposed magnetic field. - Water cooled to reduce pump noise and sufficient cooling for magnetic field configuration. - NW40 exhaust fitting to be compatible with proposed roughing pumps. The necessary requirements for the rough pumps are as follows: - 2 roughing pumps each with greater than 500 L/min pumping speed over a pressure range of 760 Torr to 10^(-2) Torr for a combined total pumping speed of 1000 L/min for reasonable time to pump ~2000 liter vacuum chamber from 760 Torr to ~10^(-3) Torr (less than 30 minutes). It is important that the high pumping speeds are maintained down to low vacuum 10^(-2) Torr. - Dry pump free of oil. SCICL is an oil free lab and it is important to avoid contamination in the vacuum chamber. Additionally, oil free pumps reduce the need for complicated filters between roughing pumps and turbo pumps due to oil back flow, minimize hazardous material handling and disposal, and have reduced maintenance needs. - NW40 inlet fittings for sufficient pumping conductance as well as compatibility to proposed turbo pumps and chamber. - Operational noise optimally <60 dB to eliminate need for sound insulation. - Can pump on high pressures for longer than 15 minutes to eliminate the possibility of pump overheating. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333911, Pump and Pumping Equipment Manufacturing, and the size standard for small business is 500 employees. The Federal Stock Class (FSC) is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. Firms responding to this announcement must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and should include company name, cage code, point of contact, address and indicate whether the pumps can be provided under a Federal Supply Schedule. Please specify the manufacturer of the pumps you are able to provide. Also indicate business size: large business, small business, 8(a) concern, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, women-owned small business. The Government reserves the right to consider the acquisition for the 8(a) program based upon responses received to this sources sought announcement.
