- This request is an announcement for information/market research for planning purposes. This synopsis does not constitute a request for proposal, request for quote, invitation for bid nor does its issuance, in any way, restrict the Government as to its ultimate acquisition approach. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center PKOA, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico is seeking potential sources to provide a pair of dual mode (grid switched and CW) traveling wave tube amplifiers that cover the frequency range of 18 to 40 GHz. The amplifiers are based on tubes manufactured by L-3 Communications, the model 8928H and 8939H integrated with a high voltage power supply. CLIN 1: TWT amplifier, 130 watts, 18-26.5 GHz, WR42 waveguide output CLIN 2: TWT amplifier, 130 watts, 26.5-40 GHz, WR28 waveguide output General Requirements common to CLIN1 and 2: Power Output 125 watts minimum at band edges 170 watts center band Pulse Width Range 50 ns to CW PRF Range 0 to 100 KHz Pulse Rise and Fall Time 15 nanoseconds, Maximum, with CW applied as Measured between the 10 and 90% Power points Pulse Overshoot 5% maximum Time Delay; pulse in to RF out 200 Nanoseconds, Maximum Pulse Droop 0.1 dB, Maximum Phase Droop 3% Nominal for 50 nanosecond pulse Pulse Recovery Time 150 Nanoseconds Duty Cycle up to CW Power Output Stability 0.1 dB, Pulse to Pulse Gain at Rated Power 52 dB, Minimum Gain Stability ±0.5 over 24 hour period Phase Stability ±1 Degree, Peak to Peak Spurious Outputs -50 dBc, Maximum Input VSWR 1.2:1.0, Maximum Load VSWR 2.0:1.0, Maximum Levels harmonic -15 dBc, Maximum Operating Temperature -20°C to +50°C Operating Altitude 0 to 10,000 ft Interfaces Primary Power 120 VAC, or 208 three phase 60Hz Pulse Input 5Volt, 50 ohms, BNC front RF Input 2.92 mm connector (F), Front Panel RF output waveguide Rear Panel (WR 42 or 28) Forward RF Test Point 2.92 mm connector (F), Front Panel Reverse RF Test Point 2.92 mm connector (F), Front Panel Waveguide Pressure not required Collector Current Test Point BNC, Female, Front Panel Remote Control IEEE-488, RS 232 Size 19 inch Rack Mount Control display vacuum florescent, 4 line TWT HVPS/Modulator Requirements Energy Limit to TWT Arc 1 Joule Peak, Maximum Filament Voltage Regulation ±1% Filament Voltage Monitor, High and Low Filament Voltage run-up to limit current to decal value Filament Current Limit 4 Amps, Maximum Filament Time Delay Filament and Operate Elapsed Time on 4-line display Temperature Monitor on both TWT and HVPS/Modulator Collector HVPS Regulation ±1%, Maximum Cathode HVPS Voltage Monitor, High and Low Grid pulse inhibit until all TWT voltages are applied Input Monitor of PRF, pulse width, and duty cycle Forward and Reverse Power Monitor Peak Current Monitor, Collector Current Control, display and Protection All local control and status functions shall be available remotely.
