- Description
- Concerns having the ability to furnish the services and supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the name and telephone number for a point of contact) to the contract specialist listed in the announcement within 5 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey, Central Mineral and Environmental Resources Science Center, has a requirement for lodging, food, and Jet A helicopter fuel at an existing exploration camp adjacent to the portions of the McGrath, Talkeetna, Lime Hills and Tyonek quadrangles in western Alaska. This field work is being conducted in a very remote area of the western Alaska Range. This camp serves as a staging point for local mineral exploration activities and likewise offers ideal staging location for USGS field activities in the region. The key location is vital in limiting helicopter flight time and fuel consumption; the camp contains sleeping quarters and provide meals to accommodate a field crew of approximately 15 persons for 32 days, camp includes airstrip, helipads and bulk fuel storage tanks that can meet fuel consumption of 75 - 120 gallons/day; camp also houses an extensive drill core library of fresh samples from various metals. In addition, this study will occur mid July through August 2012. Based on the information at this time, the government considers the services specified as a sole source from KISKA Metals Corp, Vancouver, British Columbia and proposes to negotiate a contract with the firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services and supplies or its functional equivalent (based on the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit, in writing, an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and other such materials which correspond to the required services and supplies stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request. Affirmative response shall be received by this office by close of business July 9, 2012 by 3:00 P.M. Mountain Standard Time. This notice may represent the Governments only official notice of this procurement.
