Description
This is a sources sought notice for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations, National Marine Fisheries located in Panama City, FL who is seeking to purchase a Micromill machine (Model 1000-3016) for processing biological samples from Electro Scientific Industries (ESI), Inc. This item is a high-resolution micro sampling instrument and is required to allow for milling and/or drilling powder for biological samples for chemical and isotopic analyses. Samples can be removed as whole core or as powder. Whole cores are approximately 1 mm thick x 1 ½ mm wide and 3 mm ling. To mill samples to this precision requires a computer-driven piece of equipment. The micromill is computer controlled machine that allows for specific design of milling patterns that need to be milled from the sample. Most micromills operate in only two dimension (X,Y) but this particular machine operates in three dimension (X,Y, and Z). As a computer controlled device, precise movements for depth, scan speed, and drill bit speed are available and these precise measurements are critical to the government's need. The material must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing systems presently installed and utilized since 2005. During this time, standard operating procedures as well as designed species-specific patterns to mill whole cores and/or powder rom biological samples have been implemented. Currently, there are several collaborative projects already in progress using this exact piece of equipment. To ensure project continuity and to insure data integrity, using the identical piece of equipment is required. The NAICS code is 333512. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. Firms who believe they can meet all the requirements specified herein, must furnish detailed information concerning their capability to provide the supply and satisfy the Government's needs. Along with descriptive literature of the equipment being offered must be provided. In addition shall include name, telephone number and address of concerns for which you have furnished this type of equipment previously. Interested parties must respond within ten (10) days after publication of this notice. The Eastern Region Administrative Division (ERAD), requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR). No award can be made unless the vendor is registered in CCR. For additional information and to register in CCR please access the following website: http://www.ccr.gov/.
