- On or about 25 July 2012, this office will issue Invitations for Bid for construction of the L611-614 BERM CONSTRUCTION AND ROAD RAMP REPAIR MISSOURI RIVER, IA. The solicitation will close on or about 24 August 2012. This solicitation is RESTRICTED TO SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. A tentative site visit date has been scheduled for 09 August 2012 at 10:00 am (local time). Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Todd Tobias, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Telephone: 402-293-2531 or email at Todd.R.Tobias@usace.army.mil Contractors are to meet at 17628 Allis Road (private residence), Council Bluffs Iowa. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. Project Description: (Approx. quantities) The L611-614 Berm Construction and Road Ramp Repair Project primarily consists of the construction of eleven earthen berms and the repair of six road ramps along the Missouri River Levee L611-614, located in Mills and Pottawattamie Counties, Iowa. The construction will require placement of approximately 67,500 CY of random fill, which will be obtained from adjacent fields; 21,000 CY of topsoil, which will be obtained from the footprint of the construction areas and from a wetland borrow location at Missouri River Levee L601; 6,000 CY of compacted cohesive material, which will be obtained from a wetland borrow location at Missouri River Levee L601; 450 LF of reinforced concrete pipe, and reinforced concrete manholes; and 22,000 tons of aggregate levee surfacing. Other items such as seeding, final grading at the wetland borrow location, and the placement of concrete right-of-way markers will also be required. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work by 01 March 2013. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
