Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting small business contractors for the Maintenance Dredging of the 8 ft Federal Navigation Channel into Clinton Harbor, in the town of Clinton, CT. The NAICS code for this procurement is 237990. The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Any responsible source meeting this standard may submit a bid to be considered by the New England District. The work of this project consists of maintenance dredging approximately 45,000 cubic yards (CY), of predominantly sandy sediment, by hydraulic dredge from the Clinton Harbor 8-ft navigation channel. The channel is 100 feet wide, about 1.1 miles in length, and extends from Long Island Sound into Clinton Harbor, Clinton, CT. The sandy dredge material will be pumped via pipeline to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, CT about 1.8 miles away to the west. Of the 45,000 CY of maintenance dredging, approximately 30,000 CY will be required to dredge down to -8 ft Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW), and another 15,000 CY of 1-ft allowable overdepth to -9 ft MLLW. All dredging operations will occur between October 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013 to minimize impact to natural resources in the area. A major emphasis in the dredging project is removal of the tip of Cedar Island which has migrated into the channel, making navigation safety a concern for the Clinton maritime community. The work will not include dredging 2 small anchorages and a portion of the channel north of Cedar Island where material is too silty to be placed at Hammonasset Beach State Park. The solicitation will be available on or about July 25, 2012 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http:/www.fbo.gov). In order to view this solicitation, prospective contractors are required to self register their firms with federal Business Opportunities (go to http:/www.fbo.gov and register under Vendor/Citizen). Amendments, if any, to the solicitation will be made available at the http:/www/fbo.gov website. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the FedBizOps Registration List.
