Description
This modification is hereby made to DTNH22-12-R-00534 "Questions and Answers" 1) Can you clarify what is meant by "out of position (OOP)?" For example would OOP include a 5 th occupant seated upright with the seat track in the full rear position? Or, does OOP mean the occupant NOT seated in the upright position (reaching for something on the floor)? NHTSA intentionally left the specific definition of OOP to the proposer. We recognize that different combinations of sensors and restraint countermeasures will be at different type of out-of-position occupants. The proposal should discuss the type of OOP conditions that can be addressed. NHTSA envisions OOP to be anytime an occupant is out of the standard driving position. 2) In paragraph C.3.1.3.2 there are 18 tests listed in the baseline test matrix. How many additional tests from section C.3.1.3.1 (OOP) does NHTSA envision would be needed to evaluate OOP situations? NHTSA would like the contractor to propose the number of tests. This list of tests in the SOW serves to provide an indication of the scope of testing that NHTSA envisioned to assist in developing proposals. A responsive proposal should discuss the mix of testing and simulation. 3) Does NHTSA publish all of the proposals received for this solicitation, or only the awarded one (if at all)? My understanding is that proposals are treated as confidential business information and cannot be made public without prior permission - Lionel please correct if necessary
