- Description: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 10, 1650 Oak Tree Blvd, Independence, OH 44131 anticipates soliciting bids and subsequently awarding a contract for the construction project 541-10-1003 known as "Renovate Radiology North." The location of the work will be at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, 10701 East Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio, 44106. The scope of this project is to renovate approximately18,500 GSF of existing construction along the north side of the main existing facility Radiology Department and new shell space in the basement. The project will renovate approximately18,000 SF of existing basement space creating procedure rooms, support space and staff offices for Radiography, Fluoroscopy, CT, Bone Density, Angiography and Ultrasound. The project will also renovate approximately 500 SF of an existing electric transformer room into a locker room and shower for the Police Service on the first floor. This project also includes fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and technology fit-out. The period of performance will be 660 days after the notice to proceed. In accordance with VAAR 836.204 the Magnitude of Construction is estimated to be between $5 Million and $10 Million. The NAICS code for this work is NAICS 236220 - Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, supplies, and travel, to perform work under this project. The work will include but not be limited to general construction, alterations, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical work, utility systems, asbestos abatement, necessary removal of existing structures, and certain other items. The solicitation will be issued as an "Invitation for Bid" conducted in accordance with FAR Parts 14, 19, and 36 and be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. This opportunity will be available only to contractors under the Set-Aside program. The solicitation will be a 100% set-aside for SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 8127, for the Department of Veterans Affairs, "Service-disabled veteran-owned small business concern". The solicitation is expected to be issued on or about Monday August 6, 2012, as an invitation for bid and bids will be due 30 days later as will be described in the solicitation. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract. The solicitation, when published on www.fbo.gov will include the specifications and drawings. A pre-bid conference will be scheduled approximately one week after the solicitation is posted. The time and place will be stated in the solicitation. All prospective contractors, subcontractors and suppliers are urged to attend. This will be the only site visit scheduled for this project. Individual requests to view the site will not be granted. This notice is not a request for competitive offers. It is being issued for informational purposes only. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government.
