- Description
- The U.S. Military Academy West Point NY is seeking sources to provide two sub-micrometer resolution three-dimension automated stages. These stages will be used to manipulate experimental samples in experimental setups to benefit Cadet and faculty research objectives. Minimum specifications: the device must meet the following minimum specifications. a. Closed-loop controller box i. Must have electronic controller box with at least 1.5 meters of cabling between the device and the controller box ii. Controller box must have manual controls and readouts iii. Controller box should have remote control capabilities, such as a USB or GPIB port b. Nano-manipulating device (closed loop) i. Repeatability within 10 nano-meters (a.k.a. nm) ii. Resolution less than 0.5nm iii. Range of motion of 100 micro-meters (a.k.a. microns or m) or longer on each axis iv. Must be controlled by the controller box (as a separate unit) v. Capacitative closed loop system preferred over piezo (pressure) vi. Must have a 'V-Groove' (also called 'tounge-in-groove') and screw holes on top for mounting devices such as the ThorLabs HFF-003 fiber clamp vii. At least 50 gram carrying capacity (100g+ preferred) without inhibiting motion c. Gross motion XYZ stage capable of motion of 0.5 inch (12.5mm) or longer in all 3 directions i. Must mount to standard 1-inch hole-spacing optical table holes of "-20 threading ii. Must allow the nano-manipulating device to mount to it securely iii. May be manually or controller-box operated d. Entire device, when fixed to the optical table, must not occupy more than 6 inches wide (x), 6 inches long (y), and eight inches tall (z) e. Screws/hex bolts i. Whole system should be easily removed from table - eg. not too many parts, all parts sturdy enough to unscrew/re-screw many times ii. Screws/bolts intended to mount to the optical table must be "-20 threaded, US size if hex capped iii. Device-internal screws/bolts that are user adjustable may be either US or metric This is not a Request for Quote or an announcement of a solicitation and no solicitation package exists at this time. Solicitation will be posted by 7/20/2012 with a total set-aside for small business.
