Description
Notice of Intent to Sole Source 17 July 2012 Notice Type: Intent to Sole Source Date Posted: 17 July 12 Office Address: U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity ATTN: MCMR-AAA-B 820 Chandler Street, Fort Detrick MD 21702 Tel: 301-619-3490 EMAIL: Kimberly.s.hannan@us.army.mil Contact Person: Kimberly Hannan, Purchasing Agent; emailKimberly.s.hannan@us.army.mil Subject: Intent to Sole Source Classification: None Solicitation #: W81XWH12T0353 Set Aside: n/a NOTICE TEXT: The United States Army Medical Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, IAW FAR 13.106-1(b) with Cellular Dynamics Intl. Inc, 525 Science Drive Ste 200,Madison WI 53711-1082, as the only responsible source that can provide the customized products needed to fulfill this acquisition. This requirement is in support of USAMRICD's mission to perform microRNA (miRNA) microarray analysis using human neurons exposted to various nerve agents including soman and VX. Using human induced-pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell lines is a well established and non-controversial alternative for obtaining large quantities of viable and pure neurons. Cellular Dynamics will provide icell iPSC-derived neurons. The new protocols are directly related to previous protocols that CDI had supported. Through support of the previous protocols, CDI has knowledge of generating iPSC-derived cells in high quantities to meet the Governments needs and they are both commercially and readily availbale. CDI has previously performed quality control testing via karyotyping to confirm efficiency of cell diferentiation into viable and pure neurons. Adequate knowled on cell viability and purity is central to this study that seeks to fulfill USAMRICD's mission. Icell iPSC-derived neurons are prioprietary products of CDI. All capability statements received by closing of this notification of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Based on the above information, the only technically acceptable human iPSC neurons is provided by Cellular Dynamics International. Submit email capability statements (using PDF, MS Word, Excel attachments) to Kimberly Hannan at, kimberly.s.hannan@us.army.mil. Email statements are preferred. Statements are due no later than 1:00 P.M. EST on 31 July 2012. No telephone calls will be accepted.
