Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) for a battery charger for the US Air Force E-3 aircraft. This office seeks potential sources and no cost product information and this RFI should not be construed as a solicitation for applications or an obligation on the part of the government. The government will not pay for the preparation of any informatiaon submitted or for the government's use of that information. Background The Air Force is exploring alternatives to improve reliability/supportability of the current battery charger used on the E-3 AWACS aircraft. This Request for Information (RFI) seeks input on readily available battery chargers that can be used with no or little modification to the aircraft. The current battery charger is manufactured by ACME and managed as part number 330BC101-1, NSN: 6130-01-539-5931. The current battery in use is made by Marathon, and managed as part number M-81757/18-1, NSN: 6140-01-539-2831, MIL-PRF-81757/18. Any proposed replacements must fit in the current space of 5.0" high x 8.8" wide x 10.5" deep. Replacements must provide output of 29.75 + 0.3 Volts at up to 60 Amps with charger input of 3Φ, 115 VAC, 400 Hz. USAF desires a charger currently in production, with no known diminishing material spares issues. Replacement items must be able to pass applicable E-3 qualification testing (Mil-STD-810, EMI/EMC, MIL-STD-704, etc.). To enhance long-term supportability, it is desired that the chargers be used on multiple large fleets. Information Requested 1. Technical description of the proposed equipment. 2. Reliability and DMS data for proposed equipment. 3. List of vehicles, aircraft, etc. that currently use the proposed equipment. 4. Has the proposed equipment passed any industry or MIL-SPEC environmental assessments such as MIL-STD-810? If yes, which parts of MIL-STD- 810 passed? 5. Provide any additional standards your hardware meets such as FAA TSO, Mil Spec, or SAE. 6. Provide catalog cost for the proposed equipment.
