Description

The Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE intends to issue a Firm-Fixed Price Construction contract award to a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). The contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for EMERGENCY POWER TO MAIN HOSPITAL ELEVATORS as required by drawings and specifications. The contractor is to follow all OSHA safety guidelines. SPECIFICS: 1.STATEMENT OF BID ITEM(S) A.BASE BID, GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: Work includes general demolition, construction alterations for mechanical and electrical work at existing elevators. Emergency Power shall be provided at all three (3) Passenger Elevators and one (1) Freight Elevator at central elevator hoist way indicated on the drawings. B.BID DEDUCT ALTERNATE: removal of all work associated with the running of power from the Clinical Addition Pull box on the Ground floor to the 9th floor Police Training Room. 2.All employees of general contractor and subcontractors shall comply with VA security management program and obtain permission of the VA police, be identified by project and employer, and restricted from unauthorized access. 3. Prior to commencing work, general contractor shall provide proof that an OSHA certified �competent person � (CP) (29 CFR 1926.20(b) (2) will maintain a presence at the work site whenever the general or subcontractors are present. 4.Prior to commencing work, general contractor shall provide proof that all Tradesmen working the site have a State certificate as a Journey person in the respective field of work. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 236220. The U.S. Small Business Administration Size Standard is $33,500,000.00. The SOLICITATION issue date will be approximately AUGUST 9, 2012 with an approximate response date of SEPTEMBER 6, 2012. A pre-bid meeting and site visit will be scheduled around AUGUST 20, 2012. Contractors are encouraged to read the entire solicitation and send questions to the Contracting Officer before the pre-bid meeting. The solicitation will be an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and will be issued as a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business set-aside. The project magnitude is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. The solicitation will result in a Firm-Fixed Priced Contract. The entire solicitation will be made available only on the Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site https://www.fbo.gov/index?cck=1&au=&ck=. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be available. The SOW, contract drawings and specifications will be available when the solicitation is posted. Once the solicitation is posted, it is incumbent upon the interested parties to review the EPS website frequently for any updates/amendments to any and all documents.
