Description
The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with HQ Inc. to provide a Core Body Temperature System. The system is an all-in-one system that will provide the level of evaluation necessary to test new cooling technology. The proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than August 6, 2012 noon local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact Michele Devine, Contract Specialist, e-mail: michele.g.devine.ctr@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). The ingestible CorTemp sensor is licensed by HQ Inc. The CorTemp Core Body Tempertaure System is currently being used in the RHP Human Physiology laboratory of the 711th Human Performance Wing of the Air Force to measure core boy temperature during subject testing. The current procurement will aide this collaborative effort and the systems will be used to augment the existing system and be incorporated into the existing laboratory. It is the only core body temperature measurement system available on the market that offers the flexibility for both field and laboratory environments. It acts as an internal thermometer and provides a more accurate core body temperature measurement than any other type of external methods. The use of the CorTemp RF remote units and the Cor Temp Nomad field RF base System increases the flexibility of use in the field environments.
